Tri-Meet Results
BALTIMORE, Md. – Jackie Borkowski was a triple winner for West Chester, who won 10 swimming events on Saturday and both diving events on Friday, as the Golden Rams topped both Johns Hopkins and The College of New Jersey in a non-league tri-meet on the campus of Johns Hopkins University.
West Chester (5-0) remains perfect on the season with the sweep of both institutions.
Borkowski took top honors in the 100-yard freestyle (52.91 seconds), 200 free (1:54.24) and 100 backstroke (58.91) to spark the Golden Rams effort Saturday. Additionally, West Chester swept the relay events, winning all five competitions.
Erin Fischer was first in the 100 butterfly (59.60) and Megan Bauer won the 50 free (25.15) for West Chester’s other two victories in the pool. The Golden Rams swept the top three spots in the 50 free and 100 fly as well. Placing behind Fischer in the 100 fly was Kristen McCabe (1:00.32) and Bauer (1:02.27), respectively. Kate Jones (25.33) and Kristen Montello (25.67) were second and third, respectively, behind Bauer in the 50 free.
Danielle Ierley provided valuable points, taking second place in both the 200 free (1:58.21) and the 500 free (5:13.85).
West Chester picked up its other two wins in both diving competitions Friday night held at The College of New Jersey. The Golden Rams swept the top three spots in both events and extended that to the top four places off the 1-meter springboard.
Heather Varas won each competition, scoring a 217.25 in the 1m and a 243.5 in the 3m. Sammi Phillips was second in each (198.2 off 1m; 193.1 off 3m), and Dana DePaul was third (188.3 off 1m; 187.45 off 3m).
West Chester will be back in action on Jan. 25 when the Golden Rams travel to Penn State for a non-league meet against the Nittany Lions.
